Medspa Mastery: 7 Podcasts Sharing the Secrets to Success

These industry podcasts have invaluable advice for self-care business owners

Whether you’re getting ready to open your doors or have a booming business with A-list clientele, there’s always more to learn about running a medspa. Thankfully, if the number of fan-favorite medspa podcasts is any indication, those who came before are more than willing to share their secrets.

From marketing advice to the evolution of medical aesthetics to the merits of various injectables, the podcasts on this list are loaded with useful insights. If you’re ready to elevate your self-care business but you’re not sure where to start, these seven podcasts will help you take your medspa to the next level.

Medical Spa Insider

Hosted by American Med Spa Association (AmSpa) founder and CEO Alex Thiersch, Medical Spa Insider “takes an in-depth look at today's aesthetic entrepreneurs and what makes them successful.” This weekly podcast, which has racked up over half a million downloads, covers topics like channeling passion into a career, recruiting the right aesthetics team, effective bookkeeping, and more.

With nearly 250 episodes and counting, diving into a podcast like this can be a bit daunting. If you’re looking for a good starting point, we recommend Elevating Your Patient Experience from Start to Finish. With guest expert (and Boulevard’s own Medspa Education Manager) Skya Jones, this episode covers how to create a streamlined client experience with a little help from the right technology.

The Glow Boss Podcast

Billing itself as “the elite provider of medical spa services across Utah,” Spa Trouvé provides a variety of medical-grade skin care treatments and other aesthetic services while adhering to the core values of passion, integrity, and commitment. Spa Trouvé founder and CEO Courtney Anderson continues to espouse those values on The Glow Boss Podcast while chatting with providers about all things skin care and injectables. If you’ve ever found yourself debating the merits of Semaglutide vs. Tirzepatide or wondering how to upsell clients without being too “sales-y,” The Glow Boss Podcast is a great place to find out.

Medspa Secrets

As the owner and CEO of Oregon medspa Illume Aesthetics, Ben Chew is no stranger to self-care business success. On the Med Spa Secrets podcast, he and Illume Aesthetics Medical Director (and Master Injector) Jen Bullock share what they’ve learned on their journey, from day-to-day life as a medspa owner to the latest industry news.

The bite-size nature of this podcast (16 episodes to date ranging between 13 and 32 minutes) makes it easy to get caught up and gain some valuable insights from two of the best in the business. You can even catch Skya Jones sharing the secrets of medspa leadership in episode 15.

Making a (Multi) Million Dollar MedSpa

Presented by medspa training platform Mint Aesthetics, Making a (Multi) Million Dollar MedSpa is an educational podcast “where we have real conversations about what it takes to run a successful medspa.” Currently in its fourth season, the most recent batch of episodes features renowned plastic surgeon Dr. A. Jay Burns and a slew of expert guests sharing what they’ve learned from their distinguished careers in the medspa industry.

The Spa Strong Podcast

Hosted by M’Lisa Hansen Ellis and Royal Ellis of medspa consulting program Spa Strong, the Spa Strong Podcast builds on the platform’s foundation of mentorship and support while aiming to “help spa owners and beauty professionals scale to their dream revenue.” With 150+ episodes covering topics like training standards, avoiding burnout, and setting boundaries with clients, this podcast is all about helping medspa owners reach their business goals. Reviewers have called the Ellises “the best coaches in the game” and praised the podcast’s informative content, with one listener writing, “The guests that they bring on and the content they provide makes me feel so informed and empowered.”

Business of Aesthetics

According to Business of Aesthetics, “The ‘business’ of aesthetic medicine is fiercely competitive. Business strategy needs general techniques like distinctiveness and focus for success in this cutthroat industry as aesthetic medicine specialists look to position their practices within the present business climate of cosmetic surgery.”  To aid medspa owners in developing those techniques, founders Naren Arulrajah and Jeffrey Richmond regularly host industry experts on the platform’s eponymous podcast.

Boulevard’s Skya Jones once again shared her secrets to creating top-tier patient experiences in episode 144, which aired in August 2023. From the benefits of investing in your service providers to using pre-booking to boost retention and revenue, Jones’ insights on the Business of Aesthetics podcast provide an ideal starting point for new listeners.

Technology of Beauty

How are doctors, inventors, and scientists shaping the future of aesthetics? That’s what renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Grant Stevens wants to find out on his podcast, Technology of Beauty. In every episode, Dr. Stevens interviews industry experts on topics like topical carboxytherapy, patient education, Botox-injecting robots, and the latest scientific advances to hit the aesthetics industry.

Technology of Beauty has amassed nearly 100 episodes in under four years with plenty of content planned for the future. In fact, you can catch Skya Jones on the podcast in March 2024.

Take some time to listen to the experts who’ve been in your shoes, and you might find inspiration to take your own medspa business to the next level.
