Bryn Collier, Green Circle Salons’ Director of Marketing & Technology, shares how tech can help beauty businesses go green.
Earth Month is almost over, but salon owners continue to express their dedication to creating a better, greener planet. Green Circle Salons is working towards that goal by crafting a program that reduces waste and offsets carbon emissions from beauty businesses. Green Circle Salons’ technology-backed platform is helping pave the way for a new generation of sustainability-driven salon owners. Bryn Collier, Green Circle Salons’ Director of Marketing & Technology, answered a few of our questions about creating a greener beauty industry.
Technology is building a greener beauty industry
Sustainability isn’t an easy thing to achieve, but it is nevertheless at the heart of what Green Circle Salons has set out to accomplish. As Collier puts it, their “award-winning program empowers salons to offset their carbon emissions and recover up to 95% of their beauty waste. That includes previously unrecoverable materials and hard-to-recycle items like hair clippings, foils, excess hair color, aerosol cans, and color tubes.”
Green Circle Salons is about the future, thriving at the crossroads between technology and sustainability in ways that other companies can’t match. “Our goal is to help salons and spas be green, build revenue, gain clients, and save money in a way that’s ethical and simple,” Collier tells us. Businesses will be seeing green in more ways than one, and it’s all thanks to technology, which is “central to the service we provide to our member salons and beauty professionals as it allows us to create a better and more streamlined experience for them.”
Going green is about collaboration and partnership
Green Circle Salons has had skin in the game for years now, and in that time they’ve learned that providing affordable green solutions means finding the right partners, which led them to Boulevard.
Green Circle Salons is cleanly integrated into the Boulevard platform, making it the path of least resistance to take your business green. “Today, our member salons that use Boulevard as their POS can track Eco Fee transactions, run reports, and enable the ESF (Environmental Stewardship Fee) in customizable ways. Together we can positively impact the planet and bring more benefits to the beauty industry.”
Clients are also interested in sustainable salons
Going green can seem like an investment with little return, but that’s simply not the case anymore. Consumers care more now than ever about brand values, and that certainly includes the beauty industry. According to Collier, 84% of salon guests care about a salon’s environmental impact, which is where Green Circle Salons comes in. With an arsenal of sustainable tools, Green Circle Salons is helping salon owners get business from climate-conscious consumers and generate more profit. “Green Circle Salons members recover up to 95% of their beauty waste and are able to offer carbon-neutral and climate-friendly services to their guests thanks to our Carbon Neutral Benefit.”
Where Green Circle Salons is headed
Green Circle Salons isn’t done innovating either, recently introducing its new Artist Program, which is tailor-made for “independent beauty professionals and boutique salons.” The program is built to be simple and affordable, and have a gargantuan effect on any salon’s environmental impact.
It’s not uncommon for sustainability to be treated like a pipe dream — in the beauty industry and elsewhere — but it doesn’t have to be. This new subscription program offers a cost-effective, customizable, flexible, and space-conscious way to go green and build revenue. Members only pay for the waste they create and purchase only what they need, too.
During Earth Month or any other time of year, when beauty professionals register for the program Green Circle Salons will make them a carbon neutral business. On top of becoming sustainable without breaking the bank, they will be automatically enrolled in Green Circle Salons’s new Carbon Neutral Benefit for no additional cost.
Even something as simple as a hairdryer creates an impact on our planet, which makes Green Circle Salons’ mission crucial to building a carbon-neutral beauty industry. With them at your side, though, you can have a better, more profitable business with a greener future.
